Chicago Med season 8 only just began, but the season is already shaping up to have one of the show’s biggest cast shakeups yet.

Thus far this season, we’ve already bid farewell to a number of cast members including Guy Lockard (Dylan Scott), Sarah Rafferty (Pamela Blake), Riley Voelkel (Milena Jovanovic), Michael Rady (Matt Cooper), Johanna Bradley (Avery Quinn) and Angela Wong Carbone (Jessa Rinaldi).

While all of these exits have been impactful, the show is about to experience its biggest casting departure of the season with the upcoming departure of original cast member Brian Tee.

Reports of Tee’s exit first broke last week when Deadline reported the actor would be leaving the show in the ninth episode of the show’s current season. It’s a major loss for the show, but Tee’s goodbye message to fans seems to hint the door will be left open for his return.

Brian Tee addresses Chicago Med exit

In wake of news reporting his departure, Tee took to Instagram to confirm he is indeed departing the show.

“As I step away, my heart is full and filled with gratitude… especially for the #fans. It was a beautiful ride with an incredible group of people that I will hold in my heart forever,” Tee wrote confirming his exit from the show and putting to bed any rumors regarding the legitimacy of the initial reports.

While Tee confirmed he is leaving the series, he assured fans that “This is not goodbye, but a see you later… and a sincere thank you to you all.” This remark seems to suggest that the door will be left open for Tee’s character Ethan to return in the future.

It also seems to serve as an assurance that his character will not be killed off the show which is something we’re sure fans will be relieved to know.
