Chicago PD may have parted ways with Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), but season 10 has had no shortage of interesting newcomers. There’s been Halstead’s protege, Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar), the new precinct chief O’Neal (Michael Gaston), and now, the chief’s son, Sean O’Neal.

Sean is the latest to be thrown into the mix, and his introduction casts him in an unflattering light (to say the least). It’s hard to get a read on him at first, but recent comments from PD showrunner Gwen Sigan suggest that we will be seeing more of him. With that in mind, here’s what you need to know about the actor who plays Sean O’Neal.

Is Jimmy from Yellowstone on Chicago PD?

Sean is played by Jefferson White. The actor’s face might be familiar to Yellowstone fans, because he’s best known for playing Jimmy on the country drama. He’s been part of Yellowstone since its inception, and his performance has earned praise from fans and critics alike.

Needless to say, an actor of White’s caliber is a big plus for One Chicago fans. He specializes at playing characters who appear morally ambiguous, and as the PD episode “Pink Cloud” showed, this quality results in thrilling television.

Despite being such a force on the small screen, White hasn’t been acting very long. He made his debut on an episode of The Americans in 2014, and has since gone on to make appearances in Elementary, Blue Bloods and How to Get Away with Murder. He’s also a repeat offender in the Dick Wolf universe, having appeared in a single episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

During a recent interview with TV Line, White talked about the character and what sets him apart from his PD peers.

"“He’s got access to communities that don’t necessarily trust the CPD because of the history and tension”, he explained. “Sean himself has a complicated relationship with the police, and that also means he has a completely different perspective on [the case].”"

Halstead being gone is tough, but with newcomers like these, we can’t complain.
