What happened to Jo on Chicago Med?
Jo was a tragic case on Chicago Med. The character, who’s full name is Milena Jovanovic (Riley Voelkel), was an undercover cop who was brought into Gaffney after suffering a minor injury. She develops a friendship with former cop, Dr. Scott (Guy Lockard), and he goes out of his way to make sure that her cover isn’t blown.
Unfortunately, keeping Jo safe proves harder than it sounds. Dr. Scott and Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) try to keep her out of harm’s way, but they wind up landing in harm’s way alongside her in the S7 finale.
Who played Jo on Chicago Med?
Things looked dicey for the trio as season 8 opened, but there a general feeling that they would be able to get out of it in one piece. Scott and Halstead make it out of the burning building they were trapped in, and the former even subdues a goon who was trying to kill Jo.
This is where things went wrong, though. In fighting with the aforementioned goon, Scott fires off a gun, and the bullet pierces both his intended target and Jo. The undercover cop is rushed to the ER but she dies soon after as a result of the gunshot.

It’s a devastating end for the character, especially when you consider that she and Scott were getting romantically involved with one another. Scott is understandably shaken by these events and decides to quit his job at Gaffney. He tells Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) that he “killed the woman” he loves, and needs a fresh start somewhere else.
Oof, that stings. Scott was such a likable character during his season-long stint on the show that it’s tough to see him take such an emotionally torturous path. Still, in terms of storytelling and keeping the fans riveted, we have to say the Jo and Scott arc was a triumph.
