Jesse Spencer has lined up first major post-Chicago Fire role

Chicago Fire alum Jesse Spencer has lined up his first major role since exiting NBC’s firefighter drama after 10 seasons as Matt Casey.

Spencer is about to return to his Australian roots with a starring role in the Disney Plus Australia original series Last Days of the Space Age hailing from David Chidlow. The new eight-part dramedy is set against the backdrop of 1979 Western Australia and tells the story of three families in a tight-knit coastal community who find their marriages, friendships, and futures put to the test.

"Last Days of the Space Age is an eight-part dramedy series set in 1979 Western Australia, when Perth was at the centre of the world’s headlines. A power strike threatens to plunge the region into darkness, while the city hosts the iconic Miss Universe pageant and the US space station, Skylab, crashes just beyond the city’s suburbs. Against this backdrop of international cultural and political shifts."

Spencer and his costar Radha Mitchell are set to star husband and wife, Tony and Judy Bissett, one of the three couples at the heart of the series.

Will Last Days of the Space Age starring Jesse Spencer stream in the US?

At this time, it has not yet been confirmed whether Last Days of the Space Age will be available to stream on Disney Plus in the US but there is a chance the series could be available to stream stateside for those hoping to see Jesse Spencer’s first major role since leaving Chicago Fire.

Last Days of the Space Age was among the first wave of local content announced by Disney Plus in Australia. Among that wave of shows announced was Shipwreck Hunters Australia which is available to stream on Disney Plus in the US. This seems to suggest Chicago Fire fans will be able to enjoy Spencer’s new series on Disney Plus.
