Chicago Fire is known for having romances that go awry. During season 11 alone, we’ve seen Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Brett (Kara Killmer) break up, and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas) torn apart by tragedy.

Fortunately, the Cruzes seem to be immune to all this. Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) and his wife Chloe have been a beacon of consistency and comfort for audiences, and the storylines generally have to do with expanding their already adorable family.

The recent Fire episode saw Cruz and Chloe take the necessary steps to adopt Javi, who they took in during season 10, and the emphasis on them as a family led some fans to ask about the actress who plays Chloe.

Who does Kristen Gutoskie play on Chicago Fire?

Chloe is played by actress Kristen Gutoskie. She’s been part of Chicago Fire for quite some time, now, as she made her debut in the season 7 episode, “Going to War”. The character got caught up in a building fire, and met Cruz in the aftermath. They stayed in touch, and they eventually started dating.

Gutoskie has appeared in 16 episodes of Fire to date, and she serves as a wonderful foil to Joe Minoso’s animated, often comically neurotic persona. When she’s not on Fire, she’s appearing on tons of different dramas and sitcoms; including The Vampire Diaries and Lethal Weapon.

Gutoskie made her screen debut in the TV film Restless Spirits (1999), and has since carved out an impressive resume. She played the lead roles in the short-lived sitcom Beaver Falls (2011-12) and the limited series Containment (2016). More recently, she had a supporting part on the acclaimed Netflix spinoff Narcos: Mexico (2021).

It’s not quite clear how big a role Chloe, and by extension, Gutoskie, will play in the rest of Chicago Fire season 11, but given how consistent she’s been as a supporting character on the show, we know that we will get to see her again in some capacity.
