Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) has been through a lot on Chicago Med, but she’s stronger than ever. She’s managed to overcome her past addictions and come out of on top. So much so, in fact, that it feels like we’ve been watching Asher 2.0 this season.

Of course, Asher’s past has its complications, and these complications have led to somewhat strained dynamics with both Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Archer (Steven Weber), but it’s not all bad.

Here’s what the star behind Asher had to say about the character’s romantic future.

Are Asher and Halstead dating on Chicago Med?

Jessy Schram told Parade that her character has made a point of keeping things professional since her return, given the mess that resulted the last time she dated a co-worker aka Halstead. Times have changed, and both of them have matured significantly since.

The actress highlighted the fact that Asher and Halstead may have changed, but that doesn’t mean the possibility of a rekindled romance is out of the question.

"“That doesn’t mean that there can’t be a really sweet friendship or relationship that evolves from there”, Schram noted. “Just because she wants to be strong and on her own, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t need anybody.”"

The biggest difference on Halstead’s part? According to Schram, it’s been the character’s willingness to take things slow and be the support system that Asher needs.

"“I do think that Will is really respecting it”, she added. “And if anything, there probably is more of an attraction within that because they are both evolving, and he’s being forced to [deal] with her being on her own.”"

Asher and Halstead have gotten increasingly closer over the course of season 8, and there have been plenty of little moments and examples of them still having feelings for each other.

It’ll be interesting to see how long the show chooses to build this courting process, and whether they’ll embark on another relationship before the end of the year. Based on Schram’s comments, it sounds like it’ll happen sooner rather than later.
