Watch Chicago PD season 10, episode 8 live online
The grim tone of Chicago PD season 10 stays strong with its latest episode. The police procedural has not shied away from some dark topics in recent weeks, including precinct corruption and sex trafficking, and now it looks as though we will get some interesting insight into Burgess (Marina Squerciati).
Burgess has played more a background role in season 10, largely because the focus has been on Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer). The shift makes sense, given how huge the character was to season 9 and its premiere, in particular.
Burgess confronts past traumas on Chicago PD
The new episode, titled, “Under the Skin”, will see Burgess spearhead a case that’s been deemed a “dead fish”, or a case that’s seemingly hit a dead end. Miraculously, the cop is able to stumble upon a new lead, and the path it leads down forces her to confront some uncomfortable memories from her past.
We haven’t gotten too much regarding Burgess’s past, especially when it comes to her life before she joined the IU. It’ll be fascinating to learn more about her and her ability to move past trauma, especially in comparison to someone like Upton, who’s processing hers in real time.
The episode will also provide some information as to the overarching story of the season, which is Chief O’Neal (Michael Gaston) and his desire to sweep the crimes of his son Sean (Jefferson White) under the rug. O’Neal is the one who decides to assign the “dead fish” case to the IU, in the hopes that their attention strays from the recent discoveries they made regarding Sean and his troubling behavior.
