Every winter, the One Chicago shows head off on a break. In fact, all broadcast TV shows do. This is important for filming needs, to give actors and crew time off, and because the live ratings take a nosedive during the Christmas and New Year season. It doesn’t make sense to put the shows at risk of being canceled.
Chicago Fire is going on a break very soon. NBC has now confirmed when we’ll say goodbye to Firehouse 51 in 2022. Don’t worry; everyone will be back in 2023.
Chicago Fire season 11 fall finale date confirmed
The Chicago Fire season 11 fall finale will air on Wednesday, Dec. 7. This is about the same as last year, and we’ve even had the same annoying scheduling that happened last year.
We know the show has to take a break for Thanksgiving. It would have been nice to have just one week off and then bring us the fall finale. Of course, it is better than ending before the fall finale, which happened for a few seasons a few years back.
What can we expect in the new episode? NBC hasn’t confirmed a lot, but the promo hints that Kidd’s life could end up in danger. We don’t expect something permanent to happen to Kidd, but we’ll certainly see Severide put in a difficult situation of wanting to go and save his wife while there are likely orders for him not to go into the building.
If you can’t go throughout the winter break without Firehouse 51, there is some good news. All episodes are available to stream on Peacock, so you get to pick and choose which ones you want.
