There have been a lot of changes to the Chicago Med cast this season. We’ve seen a wave of shocking exits, and we’ve also seen the returns of a few familiar faces most notably with the return of Yaya DaCosta’s April Sexton

With the number of casting changes this season has brought, there has been a lot of speculation regarding whether the season might bring back any additional characters or if any current cast members could also be leaving.

So when a recent report from TVLine hinted that Colin Donnell might be eyeing a return to the show, fans were understandably excited about the prospect of seeing Dr. Connor Rhodes back in action. Fans have been eager to see Connor return to Med from the moment he stepped away in the season 5 premiere; however, the rumors of his return seem to have been greatly exaggerated.

Is Colin Donnell coming back to Chicago Med?

Although Colin Donnell seems open to the idea of returning to Chicago Med if the opportunity presented itself when speaking with TVLine about his newest series, he’s since taken to social media to shut down any rumors of a looming return to NBC’s hit medical drama.

“I love everyone over at Med but there are no plans for Connor to return,” Donnell confirmed on Twitter in response to the TVLine article which sparked rumors of his return to the show. In reacting to the interview feature, Donnell clarified that the interview which spawned the feature about his return to Med was actually an interview about his new show Irreverent, premiering Nov. 30 on Peacock.

While there is a chance the stars could align in the future leading to Donnell’s return as Connor, Donnell seems to have made it clear there are no active plans for him to return to the show. In other words, fans shouldn’t be expecting to see Connor return to the Windy City this season… or anytime soon it seems.
