We all remember Connor Rhodes. He was a crucial part of what made the early seasons of Chicago Med so much fun to watch, and his exit was one of the tougher ones to get through. Thankfully, the character is still alive and well, meaning he could realistically return.

There’s been very little talk about a Rhodes return since he left in season 5, but all that changed when TV Line sat down for an interview with the actor who plays him, Colin Donnell. He made it clear that he’s open to the notion of coming back and he even has some ideas about what the character would be up to today.

Is Connor Rhodes returning to Chicago Med?

Donnell, who’s currently promoting his new series, Irreverent, told the outlet that he loved his time on Med and considers his relationship with showrunners Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider to be very strong.

"“I loved our crew so much, the cast was so wonderful, and I know they’ve had a lot of comings and goings since I’ve left myself”, he explained But yeah, why ever close a door?”"

With regards to the way that Rhodes left the show, and fate that was seemingly designed for him, Donnell said that he feels the character has moved on. “I have a feeling that Connor never was one to stay put somewhere too long. He’s got a little bit of wanderlust in there”, the actor added.

Furthermore, Donnell said that he’s given thought to what could be done with the character, and admits that time away has made him realize how fond he was of playing him.

"“When you’ve returned home and found a place that you want to sort of embrace again, there’s a lot to be mined there”, he reasoned. “I think there’s still some stuff left to explore, should they decide to do that.”"

Med has been very open-minded when it comes to bringing characters back. Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) is a regular cast member after having been written off several years earlier, and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) has been a featured player throughout season 8, despite having a similar exit almost two years prior. Here’s hoping we see a similar trajectory with Rhodes.
