When will Chicago PD season 10 return in 2023?
Chicago PD is going to have a messy schedule for the rest of 2022. The police procedural will fall victim to the programming changes that all scripted television does, which means having to shift around so that networks can air holiday-themed content.
It’s nothing new for One Chicago fans, but it does make it tricky to know when to tune back in and when to bypass a given Wednesday due to there being a rerun or a December release in its place.
Here’s what you need to know about Chicago PD and its planned 2023 return.
When is the Chicago PD season 10 winter premiere in 2023?
Chicago PD still has to air its mid-season finale, which will resolve the arc that’s been building up over the first part of season 10. Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) will make a concentrated push to arrest Sean O’Neal (Jefferson White) after a mountain of evidence has suggested he’s behind the death of several women.
Sean is, of course, the son of the new precinct chief, (Michael Gaston), so the process of getting him behind bars has been tricky so far. It’s also been a very grim storyline, given the things that he’s been accused of, but we can’t deny that it’s been compelling stuff to watch.

The mid-season finale will air on Wednesday, December 7, which makes it the only new episode of PD that will air during the last month of the year. Once it’s been released, the rest of the December calendar will be dedicated the aforementioned reruns and/or holiday specials.
So when does the the show return? Well, thankfully, NBC has confirmed that Chicago PD will make its official return to Wednesday nights on January 4, 2023. Starting from there, PD and the rest of the One Chicago lineup will resume its usual time slot and run (mostly) uninterrupted for the rest of the month.
