Chicago Fire: Does Stella Kidd get killed in the fall finale?
Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is getting ready to face down danger in Chicago Fire. While there’s going to be a break in the show’s normal scheduling, the promo for season 11, episode 9 suggests that the character is going to willfully take on a mission that could put her life at risk.
Kidd has already been put at risk once in the premiere episode, when a man nearly killed her during her honeymoon. Thankfully, Severide (Taylor Kinney) was on hand to stab the man and put an end to the struggle.
Did Stella Kidd die on Chicago Fire?
The synopsis for the upcoming episode read as follows:
"“Severide struggles with the cost of helping Det. Pryma with the Martucci case. Gallo campaigns for Herrmann to represent 51 at the National Firefighter’s Association’s Winter Conference. A familiar face makes a shocking return.”"
The thing is, most of the episode went smoothly. True, Carver (Jake Lockett) was mixed up in a complaint case that led to the return of one Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver), but Stella handled it well and even built up a closeness with Carver that had evaded them in episodes prior.
Things took a turn for the deadly at the very end of the episode, when they arrive on a scene and are tasked with taking an explosive out of an officer’s leg without causing it to explode. Stella is made aware of the consequences if things go bad, but she decides to go in anyway, and takes Carver with her.
It’s clear from Kidd’s expression that she’s nervous about the situation, but it pales in comparison to the fear that registers on Severide’s face when he arrives and finds out what she’s doing. The scene cross-cuts between Severide’s concern and Stella’s anxiety as she goes about removing the explosive.
She manages to do so, but once it’s removed, it arms, and she’s forced to toss it and take cover behind a table. The explosive goes off while Stella, Carver, and the rest of the medic team are in the house, and the episode ends without revealing what happened to them.
It’s a devastating cliffhanger to leave us on, and it’s one that will no doubt have us itching for the show’s return in January 2023. We don’t think Stella is dead, but we wouldn’t be surprised if she took some serious damage as a result of the explosion.
