Is Hank Voight leaving Chicago PD in season 10?
Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) has had easier stretches as the boss on Chicago PD. He started off season 10 on the warpath, trying to single-handedly take down the local drug trade, and while he’s calmed down, he’s still run into professional tension.
Voight’s faith in Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and her theory that the son of the new precinct chief, O’Neal (Michael Gaston), is a killer, has put both characters in hot water. The promo for the mid season finale showed some tense exchanges between Voight and the chief, which has led some fans to question whether Voight gets the boot.
Will the beloved sergeant get kicked off the IU for applying the pressure to the chief’s son?
Is Jason Beghe leaving Chicago PD in season 10?
Voight has always had problems with authority, and the season 10 premiere made this subtext explicit through a conversation he had with O’Neal. The chief warned him that he would have to behave himself if he wanted to keep his position, and he reluctantly agreed.
The mid season finale could harken back to this conversation, and perhaps even see O’Neal use his power to blackmail Voight into looking the other way on his son’s case. Voight would never do it, of course, but having a foe within the department has been a bag that Chicago PD has excelled at in the past. If it happens, we don’t expect O’Neal to last very long.

From a logistic standpoint, it’s highly unlikely that Voight will leave the show. He’s a centerpiece character, arguably the centerpiece character, and PD is still trying to regain its footing after the departure of one Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).
The notion of losing someone as massive as Voight would be devastating, and it’s tough to see the show surviving without him. For all intents and purposes, Voight is the heart of Chicago PD, so we are confident that he will continue to stick around and cause trouble for the wrong people.
