Is there a new Chicago Med episode tonight? (November 30)
We all know the drill: Wednesday nights are for One Chicago. It’s the one night a week where we can kick our feet back and catch up with all of the characters in Chicago Med, Fire and PD. The last few weeks have been especially exciting for Med, given all the cast turnover.
In addition to newcomers, Med has teased a gigantic sendoff for veteran characters April (Yaya DaCosta) and Ethan (Brian Tee) that will serve as the mid-season finale. Is the finale this week? Will we get to see the couple ride off into the sunset on Wednesday, November 30?
When is Chicago Med coming back?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. Chicago Med, along with the rest of the One Chicago lineup, is still on hiatus after airing a new block of episodes on November 16. NBC decided to put a hold on new episodes for the rest of the month, in order to make room for holiday programming.
That means there won’t be a rerun of an earlier season 8 episode, but an airing of the 90th Annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center. It is a massive annual event, so it makes sense to air it live on NBC in place of the medical drama.

This is nothing new for NBC and longtime One Chicago fans. Every holiday season brings with it scheduling changes, and while they are always slightly different, depending on the requirements of a given year, they usually mean that new episodes get placed on the back burner.
The good is that the aforementioned mid-season finale will be airing on Wednesday, December 7 in its usual time slot. Med showrunners Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov have confirmed that the wedding will take place, and that the entire episode will be an emotional tribute to April and Ethan, who we’ve gotten to know over nearly a decade.
Med will resume its hiatus following the mid-season finale, and will reclaim its weekly time slot on January 3, 2023.
