3 Chicago PD characters who are most likely to die in 2023
Chicago PD is currently the darkest of the One Chicago shows. It makes sense, given the grim subject matter and the fact that the criminals the IU pursue are among the worst people in the entire Windy City.
Given the darkness of the material, it makes sense that the characters would consistently be put at risk. We’ve seen harrowing deaths play out over the show’s ten years, and if there’s one thing we can sure of, it’s that there will be several more in the future.
Here’s a rundown of the characters who seem most at risk heading into 2023.
Is Sean O’Neal going to die on Chicago PD?
Yes, technically Sean O’Neal (Jefferson White) made our list of characters who are most likely to leave the show in 2023, but he’s worth listing here because there’s a good chance he will leave because he gets killed.
Sean is technically in custody as of the fall finale, and given his current status (recovering from a gunshot wound to the head), he seems pretty harmless. That said, if he’s able to recover and make a break for it, or if he hires a lawyer that manages to get him off, then his story may come to an end through more brutal means of justice.
Is Trudy Platt going to die on Chicago PD?
Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) is a beloved presence on Chicago PD. She bounces off the rest of the cast with ease, and she always manages to give advice when it’s most needed. These reasons are precisely why killing her off would be such a shock to the PD fanbase.

Trudy doesn’t factor into the main stories directly, so there wouldn’t be a risk on that front, but it would certainly bring together the IU, which has become increasingly splintered over the last year. We don’t want to see it happen, but it’s certainly on the table as a possibility in 2023.
Is Detective Borkowski going to die on Chicago PD?
Detective Borkowski may not be a familiar name to most fans, and that’s because he will be introduced when PD returns on January 4. He’s an old friend of Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) who will be helping the IU investigate a series of home robberies, and based on the synopsis for the episode, Borkowski will clash with the rookie, Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar).
Given that people from the characters’s past rarely meet positive endings, it’s safe to assume that Borkowski is not going to make it very far into season 10. If he gets killed, it’s going to further the sense of frustration that Ruzek has towards the police department, which could make for tense storylines later in the year.
