Did Luke Kleintank leave FBI: International? (Will Forrester return to FBI?)

Luke Kleintank has barely appeared in FBI: International season 2 leaving many to wonder if he’s left the show, but have we seen the last of Forrester? It’s a question that has been on the minds of fans this season and understandably so.

While Kleintank appeared in the first handful of season 2 episodes, his character has been noticeably MIA in the show’s more recent episodes. In the show, Forrester has been name-dropped, but he’s been away from the team for a number of reasons in recent weeks leaving many to wonder if the stories have been designed to help set up for the character’s former exit.

Did Forrester leave FBI: International?

Although Forrester has only appeared in a few episodes of FBI: International season 2 this season, Luke Kleintank has not left the show and remains a part of the cast. He will however miss a few additional episodes this season which is due to Kleintank’s availability as the actor is currently on paternity leave.

With Kleintank on leave, the writers got creative with the storylines which have led to Forrester’s on-screen absence this season. However, as it has been confirmed that the current storyline will play into his return later this season.

What happened to Luke Kleintank on FBI: International?

In a recent interview, FBI: International showrunner Derek Haas revealed Luke Kleintank is currently on paternity leave as the show looked to give the actor time to be with his new baby. With Kleintank’s limited availability, the writers chose to explore a storyline that would help them to allow the show’s other characters to shine while also setting up a set up what will be a major arc for the character upon his return.

"“We figured out, okay, for the episodes he’s gonna be off, let’s do two things: One we can enhance all the other characters and let them have some episodes where they can shine on their own,” Haas recalled “And two, put Forrester’s career in jeopardy. He’s being bounced around and not working with the Fly Team and he’s going to want to know why. This is going to lead to a major second half character arc.”"

When will Luke Kleintank be back on FBI: International?

At this time it is not yet clear when Luke Kleintank will return to FBI: International, but we do know he’ll miss a few more episodes. TVLine has recently revealed we will, however, get an update on the character’s future in the show’s Jan. 24 episode.
