There’s a new cop in town and his name is Borkowski. The character was introduced in the Chicago PD episode “This Job”, and quickly proved himself to be a detective who gets results. Whether the results are achieved through moral and/or legal means is another question (hint: they’re not).

Borkowski has the advantage of being pals with Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), but his blatant disregard for the rules, especially when it comes to interrogating (and beating suspects) rubs Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) the wrong way.

Here’s what you need to know about the character and the actor who plays him.

Who is the new cop on Chicago PD?

Borkowski is played by Tom Lipinski. The actor has been a steady presence on television for the last few years, with appearances in hits like Billions, The Knick, and The Blacklist. He’s perhaps best known for his role as Trevor on the USA Network drama Suits.

Lipinski’s stoic demeanor has made him the go-to guy for people who are considered cyphers on television. His portrayal of Borkowski is that of a veteran who has cut corners his entire career, and feels as though the ends justify the means.

In this regard, he’s not that much different Voight (Jason Beghe) at the beginning of Chicago PD. Seeing the character clash with Torres is intriguing, because it also sets up the latter as someone who prides himself on doing things the right way.

Things get so heated between the two officers that Borkowski threatens to have Torres’s badge taken away if the rookie spills any details about the violent way he treated a witness. Torres keeps quiet, but it’s evident by episode’s end that he’s disillusioned with the Chicago police force.

It’s unclear how big a role that Borkowski will play in the rest of season 10, but based on Lipinski’s memorable performance, we hope the character continues to be an uneasy ally for Torres and the rest of the IU.
