Chicago PD: Marina Squerciati teases 200th episode on IG
Chicago PD has been on the air for ten seasons. It’s a staggering achievement for any show, as its managed to connect with multiple demographics and generations of viewers. With a tenth season comes another milestone, however, which is the hallowed 200th episode.
As evidenced by Chicago Fire‘s milestone episode last year, the 200th is usually packed with major plot developments, as well as a look back at the journey that the characters have taken since they first stepped foot onto our TV screens.
Marina Squerciati, aka Kim Burgess, knows how important the episode is going to be to fans, and she took some time during filming to post a quick photo on her Instagram.
Are Burgess and Ruzek still together on Chicago PD?
The post saw the actress posing alongside Patrick John Flueger, who plays Ruzek, and Ramona Edith Williams, who plays Makayla. The family unit have not gotten much screen time during the first half of season 10, as the focus has been on other IU members, but it looks like they become more crucial during the second half.
This IG post confirms what PD showrunner Gwen Sigan said about upcoming episodes. During an interview with TV Line, Sigan revealed that Burgess and Ruzek are going to confront some of the issues that have created emotional distance between them.
“He’s like her partner in life, and when you get out of some of that trauma, it’s about forming new attachments again”, the showrunner teased. “So we’ll get to see that she can have some more strength in those relationships and clarity, and how much they’ve been there for her.”
Given that Makayla is important to both characters, it makes sense that she would play a crucial role in bringing them closer together. Makayla’s kidnapping was one of the most tense storylines during season 9, and the different ways that Burgess and Ruzek handled it contributed to their frustrations.
We can’t wait to see what happens to the family come the 200th episode.
