Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) is finally getting some stability in her life. The Chicago Fire mainstay is in a relationship after cutting things off with Casey (Jesse Spencer) and is focusing on the joys of her work instead of the anguish that came with the the aforementioned long distance romance.

Still, there appears to be a subsect of fans who think Brett is reconsidering her status with the 51. Some have even theorized that she will step down from her medic role and leave the show, maybe in an effort to rekindle things with Casey (!?).

How much weight do these theories carry, though? Let’s investigate.

Is Sylvie Brett leaving Chicago Fire season 11?

Brett definitely seemed on the ropes during the season 11 premiere. She decided to break up with Casey due to the realization that long-distance wasn’t going to work the way the latter had hoped. It was a tough decision to make, but things seemed to turn around soon thereafter, especially when Brett met Dylan (Christopher Allen).

Dylan may not be the love of her life or anything, but it’s clear that the two enjoy each other’s company and it’s a huge step for the character to even consider a romantic partner outside of Casey (who she’d been dating for a couple seasons now).

As per showrunner Andrea Newman, Brett’s lack of drama in recent episodes has been a purposeful decision. She needed a break from the drama, and so the recent stretch has seen playing more of a supporting role to her friends in the 51.

Don’t get us wrong, there will still be Brett-focused storylines up ahead. Newman told TV Line that the Dylan romance will continue to evolve, which will force the character to decide whether she’s ready to take major steps in this direction or reconsider what Casey means to her.

"“[She’s] going to have a lot of fun with Dylan”, the showrunner teased. “But there’s always the lingering question of: Was Casey the love of her life? And will that make it impossible to move on?”"

In short, Brett isn’t going anywhere in 2023. The character is going to continue to be at the heart of the show, and if the teasers we’ve gotten are any indicator, she’s going to be more interesting than ever.
