Chicago PD alum Kevin Kane joins Law & Order cast
Dick Wolf Productions have been responsible for some of the most enjoyable and long-running shows on network TV. Chicago PD and Law and Order are two of the most notable examples of this, and they’ve recently been sharing an actor.
Kevin Kane has joined the cast of Law and Order in its current season. He’s been playing detective Terry Bruno over the last few episodes, and has effectively become a replacement for the recently exited Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish).
Bruno is something of a celebrity among New York detectives, as he won a wrongful termination case against the Bronx SVU years back. Kane, like his onscreen counterpart, has a storied history with the franchise and has turned several heads with his charismatic performance.
Who plays Detective Bruno on Law and Order?
One Chicago fans will remember that Kane played Mike Sorenson, a patrol officer who was a recurring character throughout Chicago PD‘s fourth season. Sorenson ran into some trouble, and ultimately resigned from the force before the finale.
In addition to his PD credits, Kane has appeared in a handful of Law and Order: SVU episodes. Like so many actors that make the rounds in Dick Wolf Productions, he played several different people over the course of four episodes between 2008 and 2018. He also played two different characters in 2002 and 2005 episodes of Law and Order, respectively.

Some of Kane’s other TV credits include Inside Amy Schumer, Blue Bloods and White Collar. On the big screen he’s best known for bit parts in the comedies Trainwreck (2015) and Snatched (2017), as well as the gangster epic The Irishman (2019).
It’s not yet known whether Kane will join the cast full time, or will simply be on Law and Order for the duration of his storyline. His presence has been a big hit with viewers, though, so we hope to see more of his performance as the grizzled Bruno as the current season unfolds.
