Chicago PD has been pretty insular in season 10. For good reason, we might add: the IU has been through a lot, considering the internal strife and the departure of one of their own, Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).

That said, the show will be shifting gears with the episode “The Ghost In You.” Instead of focusing on the main cast, it will expand out and revisit a character we’ve been seeing increasingly more of in recent seasons: Assistant State’s Attorney Nina Chapman.

Who plays the states attorney on Chicago PD?

Chapman made her debut last year and been on periphery of the IU for much of season 10. The synopsis for the new episode makes it clear that she’s going to be taking front-and-center, and calling upon the efforts of Voight (Jason Beghe) for help.

The synopsis for “The Ghost In You” reads as follows:

"“Voight and the team help ASA Nina Chapman pursue a drug runner who dodged prison years ago after Chapman’s informant mysteriously disappeared; the investigation takes a turn when Voight uncovers a damaging secret from Chapman’s past.”"

It’s clear that there’s more to Chapman than meets the eye, so we thought it’d be important to get acquainted with the actress who plays her. Chapman is played by Sara Bues, who has quite the career when it comes Dick Wolf Productions.

Bues has appeared in episodes of FBI and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, so she lays claim to being one of the few actors who has appeared in all three legs of this larger, Dick Wolf inspired and inter-connected universe.

While it’s unclear how much Chapman will play a role in future episodes, her prominence here suggests that she could be a pivotal point of contact for the IU. The unit has been through the ringer following the O’Neal (Michael Gaston) scandal, so being on good terms with an ASA is a definite improvement.

Of course, if what Voight finds out about Chapman is incriminating, then her time on the show is going to be dazzlingly short. We will wait and find out on February 15.
