One Chicago is a proven franchise in the world of television. Two shows have hit the decade mark, and a third is on the cusp of doing the same. It’s a heck a feat at first glance, but it’s even more impressive when you consider that these shows have featured a lot of the same actors.

One Chicago has always taken advantage of its crossover potential, whether it be through large scale, three-part storylines or a single character making a cameo in one of the other titles. It can tough to keep track of which faces are most familiar when you get used to seeing them all for so long.

With that in mind, we wanted to break down which character holds the title for appearing in the most One Chicago episodes. You may be surprised by who it is…

How long has Severide been on Chicago Fire?

A lot of fans would point to Severide, since he has been the star of Chicago Fire since its inception and has played a crucial role in all of the One Chicago crossovers. It would be a good guess, too, as actor Taylor Kinney has appeared in a whopping 250 episodes dating back to 2012.

That said, Severide actually places second among One Chicago characters with the most credits. He’s only a few behind the crown holder, but the fact that he will be missing several episodes in season 11 will inevitably widen the gap. Depending on how long he’s gone, he might actually slip down to third or fourth place.

The character who holds the title for most episodes is actually Christopher Herrmann. He has logged an astonishing 252 episodes between Fire and his sporadic appearances in Chicago Med and PD. It makes sense, given how prevalent Herrmann is among the supporting cast– he’s one of those characters that’s always in the mix, even though he’s rarely the focus.

Herrmann, played by David Eigenberg, will likely keep his title for the duration of the franchise. So many of the characters he started with have left their respective shows, and those who are in all of the episodes today have been later additions.

When it comes to day-one firefighters, there’s Herrmann and there’s everyone else.
