Chicago Fire boss teases return of ‘familiar face’ (SPOILERS)
Chicago Fire has lots of narrative directions to go in season 11. There’s the whole tension between Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Severide (Taylor Kinney), the disconcerting return of Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver), and the the impending departure of Severide for an unknown time.
It can be easy to forget all of the different story threads that are currently active, and one character who still has plenty of room to grow is Sam Carver (Jake Lockett). He was initially introduced as a foil to Kidd, but he’s proved himself to be a worthwhile character on his own.
Carver got plenty of shine before, during, and after the explosion that took both him and Kidd out, and the more we get to know about him, the more intriguing he becomes.
Who is Carver dating on Chicago Fire?
Fortunately, Fire co-showrunner Andrea Newman shed light on the character and what we can expect to see from him in upcoming episodes.
During an interview with TV Line, Newman revealed that Carver is going to be engaging with a new love interest. That’s nothing new for the show, but Newman revealed that the love interest in question is going to be a familiar face.
"“Carver (played by Jake Lockett) will definitely have upcoming love interests, including one who is a very familiar face at 51”, Newman confirmed. “This, of course, will cause all kinds of intrigue at the firehouse.”"

This is a fascinating development for the show. While returning characters are nothing new (just look at the aforementioned Jacobs), the possibility that Carver could get romantically involved with someone that we’ve already met could lead to some major complications. What if, for example, he wound up dating Jacobs???
It’s too early to tell who the character in question will be, but we can’t wait to find out what it means for the 51 team and Carver, in particular, as we will get to know increasingly more about him.
