The arc of Chicago Fire season 11 is going to hinge on Severide (Taylor Kinney). Granted, that was probably going to be the case either way, but especially after it was announced that he would be stepping away from the show for a brief period.

There’s been no word on why or how Severide will be absent from the 51, but some revelations about the upcoming episode on Wednesday, February 15, suggest that the storyline that sees him take off will start to unfold.

Here’s what we know about the episode, “The Man of the Moment”, and how it could affect Severide moving forward.

Is Severide still on Chicago Fire?

Severide and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) save a man who gets an arrow lodged in his neck. It’s a harrowing incident, obviously, and the fact that the man makes it out alive speaks to the skill and iron nerve of both firefighters, but the man becomes consumed by the idea of repaying them.

TV fanatic likened the man’s behavior to that of a “stalker”, and if so, that could spell bad news for the couple. The last time there was a stalker on Chicago Fire, he interfered with several different fire calls and nearly caused the death of several more. Needless to say, that kind of mindset is dangerous, especially when it comes to people who save lives for a living.

While it’s unclear to what extent the new character will “stalk” Severide and Kidd, the fact that this is a narrative direction suggests that this might have something to do with why Severide leaves. He could just be a nice guy who is misunderstood, or he could be something more nefarious.

Will the stalker in question verge on dangerous behavior, forcing the couple to take legal action? Perhaps Severide will have a confrontation with the man, like he did when there was an intruder during his and Kidd’s honeymoon. There are lots of exciting possibilities here, and fans should be aware of all of them as the hour glass winds down on Severide’s season 11 appearances.
