When is Taylor Kinney leaving Chicago Fire? (What episode?)
Taylor Kinney is inching closer and closer to the door. The actor is slated to leave Chicago Fire for an undisclosed amount of time, which likely means he’ll be out for the rest of season 11. The thing is, there hasn’t been confirmation as to when he’s going to leave.
Chicago Fire is returning on Wednesday, February 15 after several weeks off, and in this break we have learned about Kinney’s situation (at least, as much as he’s seen fit to share). All eyes will be on the new episode to see if it sets up the Severide exit. But will it?
When is Kelly Severide leaving Chicago Fire?
Scheduling has to be taken into account when looking at the Severide storyline. The odds are, the episode airing February 15 was always shot and completed when it was announced that he would be leaving, so there may not be any mention of it.
Generally, Chicago Fire and the other One Chicago shows will stagger their production schedule so that they’re a few episodes ahead of what’s currently airing. This means that Severide’s reason for leaving may not be introduced in the new episode, but it will likely appear in the episodes that follow.

Despite not being mentioned in the synopsis for the episode, promo photos have confirmed that Severide will play a big part in it. He can be seen aiding a victim alongside Brett (Kara Killmer) and Cruz (Joe Minoso), and then standing alongside PD‘s Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) in a different scene.
With these bits of evidence in mind, it remains unclear as to when Severide will be leaving Chicago Fire. We will provide updates as new information and spoilers roll in, but all we can do is enjoy the character (and the actor) while we he’s still onscreen!
