The big 200 is almost here. Chicago PD has been on the air for a decade, and they are gearing up to deliver one of their most exciting episodes yet. There hasn’t been too much revealed about the 200th episode from a cameo or surprise standpoint, but we have gotten some crucial insight into the scope of it all from the stars.

Marina Squerciati, Kim Burgess herself, talked about the 200th episode during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She revealed that the secrecy behind the episode has been especially tight and that she got the script shortly before production started.

When is Chicago PD’s 200th episode?

“When it’s something big, they do give you a heads-up, so I’m not totally in the dark, but I got the script the night before”, she explained. “Without the words, you can’t really track the journey.” She went on to discuss some of the physical challenges that she endured during shooting.

Squerciati reportedly had to shoot several scenes in a subway station and a well. The former has been teased through NBC promo photos, which sees Burgess and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) go after a suspect, and the latter reportedly took 12 to shoot.

The actress was placed into a large pool-like container for the scene, and had to wear fishing waders to provide some semblance of warmth. The container was so big, apparently, the she had to be carried on the shoulders of two men in order to get to the top and dry off. All that shooting yielded only one take, but thanks to Squierciati’s chops, one take was all they needed.

Chicago PD is no stranger to large-scale stunts, but it sounds as they the production team is upping the ante for the 200th episode.

The aforementioned promo photos make it seem as though Burgess and Ruzek are at the center of most of the action, which will be a nice change of pace after the Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) focus of the season’s first half.

The 200th episode is scheduled to air on Wednesday, February 22.
