Jesse Spencer almost became a doctor

According to TV Overmind, Jesse Spencer almost opted to remain in school to become a doctor instead of pursuing his passion for acting. As it turns out, Spencer comes from a family of doctors so you could say it’s practically the family business. Fortunately, Spencer decided to pursue his acting dreams which eventually led him to Chicago Fire. 

What was Jesse Spencer’s first role?

Like many actors, Jesse Spencer actually broke into the entertainment industry via one of television’s longest-running genres: the soap opera!

That’s right, before going on to star in film and primetime dramas, Spencer began his acting career with a starring role in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. From 1994 to 2000, Spencer starred as Bill Kennedy a role he played for more than 460 episodes.

Jesse Spencer and James McAvoy were once roommates

Before moving to the US, Jesse Spencer was flatmates with another up-and-coming actor who would later break big: James McAvoy! That’s right, the pair shared a small flat in London for some time and became close friends. The duo even booked small roles in 2000’s Lorna Doone where their friendship grew even more!
