4. Dawson rescues herself from parking garage collapse

As if “A Dark Day” wasn’t enough, Chicago Fire developed a habit of putting one half of Dawsey in dangerous situations while the other one worried over them. The most recent example came with the Chicago Fire season 6 episode “A Breaking Point,” where what should’ve been a great day for Casey and Dawson went upside down quickly.

Ahead of the ceremony where Casey will formally be promoted to Captain, Dawson slipped out of the firehouse to get a special gift for her husband. However, a parking garage she’d taken note of earlier collapsed while she was gone, leaving her and others stuck inside. Once again, Dawson had to make use of all of her firefighter and paramedic training—but this time it wasn’t just for herself, but for an entire group of survivors.

Back at the firehouse, Casey became suspicious of his wife’s absence. He spotted her car on the news as it reported the parking garage collapse, and Casey once again brought Firehouse 51 to help Dawson. Though Dawson had already accomplished quite a bit herself with the help of the other survivors, including getting the garage elevator’s phone working so that she could finally make contact with her husband.

The two of them quickly devised an escape route, but Chicago Fire gave Dawsey fans one last moment of fear when Dawson didn’t emerge right away. It turned out that she had gone back to help an injured soldier—the same injured soldier who’d spent the whole episode arguing with her about what to do. She was just fine, and she and Casey shared an emotional hug.

Not only did Dawsey demonstrate their uncanny sixth sense to know when something is wrong for the other, but there was also a sweet aspect that Dawson would plot a surprise for her husband in one of his biggest career moments and an even sweeter one when they made it to the ceremony. All of that in one day easily has to be one of the best Dawsey moments!
