3. Casey and Dawson adopt Louie

Children have been a major part of the Dawsey story. There was Dawson’s painful miscarriage, and their interest in starting a family ran through the rest of their time together up until the very end. The closest the duo ever got was when Dawson met an adorable kid named Louie at the end of Chicago Fire season 4.

After saving Louie, Dawson grew attached to the young child and ventured down the route of becoming a foster parent, even though Casey wasn’t 100 percent on board. Despite that and it being relatively soon after her miscarriage, Dawson was determined to foster the child she’s become attached to and have a family of her own.

Although the fostering decision put a divide between her and Casey, Dawson got the go-ahead and became the temporary guardian of Louie. And Dawsey’s dilemma didn’t last long, as Casey came around to the idea of becoming a foster parent.

The idea of another Chicago Fire family was strong for a while, as Dawsey proved themselves to be the good parents we all knew they would be. Louie even takes to the couple himself, calling Casey ‘daddy’ and clearly being just as attached to Dawson as he is to her. Every Chicago Fire fan’s heart burst at the possibility of their becoming parents, and it looked as though everything was going to work out for them.

Although the fostering didn’t end the way they had hoped, with Louie eventually returning to his biological father, it was nice to see the possibility of a Dawsey child in the future and Dawson and Casey made great parents for the short time. The way the two of them took to looking after Louie, a child they didn’t even know, will always be one of our favorite Dawsey storylines.
