1. Casey’s emotional goodbye speech

What could possibly top Dawson and Casey’s wedding? Well, ironically, it was another time that Chicago Fire tried to kill one of them. When Casey’s future looked bleak in the Chicago Fire season 5 finale “My Miracle,” at least the show provided us with the most romantic moment.

Casey was one of several characters trapped inside a massive fire in the finale, and it looked like he might not make it out. Luckily, that turned out not to be the case, but it didn’t stop the overwhelming emotion we all felt when Casey made a heartwarming potential goodbye speech to Dawson over the radio. Every viewer’s heart was in their throat as Casey delivered what he thought was his final speech to his wife.

Even in the intense heat, battling the smoke, Casey’s thoughts were about his wife, the woman he loves more than anything in the world. He put his life at further risk by removing his mask in order to tell Dawson he loved her one last time. And Dawson could do nothing but stand there and listen to him, which only made it more emotional.

It was the most heartbreaking moment to have happened to Dawsey since Dawson’s miscarriage, and it demonstrated that Casey and Dawson had a bond stronger than anything else. Everything about his speech was perfect, and the way it played out proved they were made for each other in a way that was beautiful but also painful. With it all on the line, Dawsey’s love was on full display, and we’ll never forget that Dawson was Casey’s miracle.
