Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has had a rough season 11 on Chicago Fire. She was attacked and nearly choked to death during her honeymoon in the season premiere, and nearly blown to pieces in the mid-season finale. She even had an emergency surgery to remove the shrapnel from her side.

The promo for episode 16 suggests that things aren’t going to be getting any easier for Kidd. She will be help at gunpoint during a hostage standoff, and given her status as the leader of the team, she will no doubt be put at the most risk.

Will this prolonged risk lead to a shocking Chicago Fire death?

Is Miranda Rae Mayo leaving Chicago Fire 2023?

It’s no secret that Kidd has been a polarizing character over the last few seasons. Lots of threads and articles have been made about the fact that she rubs fans the wrong way, and has not made life easy for Severide (Taylor Kinney) or underlings like Carver (Jake Lockett). The notion of her being killed off does seem a bit extreme, though.

For one, there’s the Severide connection. They are the main romance on the show, and killing one half of them off, especially with Severide gone, would waste what would otherwise be a harrowing moment for the latter. It would make more sense to kill Kidd if Severide were written off the show for good, but the fact that he’s (tentatively) slated to return means that she’s most likely safe.

Then there’s aforementioned bad luck stream Kidd has hit. She’s almost been killed twice in season 11, so the writers run the risk of tiring fans out when it comes to her being in danger. The most shocking deaths are the ones that come out of nowhere; not the ones that are telegraphed by earlier incidents.

Kidd will continue to be put in danger, especially in episode 16, but as far as her being killed off goes, we think she will be in the clear. Kidd isn’t going anywhere in season 11.
