Grey’s Anatomy is about to stage yet another comeback this evening as Kate Walsh returns again as Dr. Addison Montgomery! Tonight, Addison returns to Grey Sloan to help welcome Bailey’s new OB/GYN trainees and provide her support to the hospital’s clinic; however, as the promos for the episode have hinted, danger is lurking outside the hospital walls as picketers swarm the hospital.

Leading up to tonight’s new episode, ABC has been promoting Grey’s as being a two-parter so does this mean fans are in store for a double dose of Grey’s Anatomy tonight? Or will the two-part event being promoted by ABC unfold across multiple weeks?

How long is Grey’s Anatomy tonight? (March 23)

Although has been billing the March 23 episode of Grey’s Anatomy as a two-part event, we can confirm tonight’s episode of Grey’s will be your standard hour-long episode (with commercials factored in, of course). There seemed to have been some confusion created by the promotion as to whether ABC would be airing a special 2-hour Grey’s block tonight; however, the two-part event will be split across two weeks instead.

The first part of the two-part event will air tonight, with the second part airing on March 30, 2023. In other words, be prepared for tonight’s Grey’s to end with some unresolved storylines which will bleed into the next episode due to the nature of the two-part event.

Warning: Spoilers for next week’s episode coming below!

Grey’s Anatomy season 19 episode 12 preview

With ABC opting to air the Grey’s Anatomy two-part event across two weeks rather than back-to-back on one night, you might be wondering how the two episodes will be connected and what will be coming our way next week.

As episodes 11 and 12 will be connected, the events of this week’s episode will directly influence the events for episode 12. While ABC doesn’t dish out too many spoilers in the synopsis for episode 12, “Pick Yourself Up,” it does appear tonight’s episode will end with an attack on the clinic which will force Grey Sloan into a lockdown and fight to save as many lives as possible. Just what can you expect from the second part of the Grey’s two-part event? Here is how ABC describes episode 12:

"In the immediate aftermath of shocking events at the clinic, the hospital goes on lockdown and the Grey Sloan doctors split up to save multiple lives. Meanwhile, Maggie lands in hot water with Winston, and Jules’ roommate makes a surprise appearance."

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.
