Chicago PD can get pretty serious. It’s the most consistently grim of the One Chicago shows, and given that the characters regularly have to confront murders, drug deals, and kidnappings, it makes sense. The IU don’t get to deal with the best people in the city.

That being said, the set of the Chicago PD is much lighter. The cast members are always posting photos in which they’re goofing off on set, and the latest, from star Tracy Spiridakos, reveals how the actors manage to steer clear of scenes in which their characters are not supposed to be present.

The video, which was posted on Spiridakos’s profile, sees both her and Marina Squerciati ducking behind a desk in the IU office. A scene is clearly being filmed (a serious one, if we had to guess), but it’s hilarious to know that just off screen, cast members are giggling and doing their best not to mess up the shot.

The person taking the video is theorized to be producer Brian Luce, and he can be heard saying offscreen: “How to get out of the next shot.” Spiridakos and Squerciati both giggle upon realizing that they’re being filmed.

Given how strenuous things have been for both of their characters, it’s a nice change of pace. Upton has been through the ringer since her husband, Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), left, and she has no idea when he plans on returning (if ever). The irony in the Instagram video is that the clothing and timing suggests that it was taken during the episode that was directed by Soffer!

Burgess, on the other hand, is dealing with PTSD after her past traumas/injuries began to take their toll in the field. The former has even begun to see a therapist, in what will hopefully help get past some of the difficult things she’s endured in recent seasons.
