One Chicago Day has become a tradition for fans of the NBC franchise. It’s an annual YouTube event that includes interviews with the cast of each show, as well as clips and teasers as to what will be happening down the line.
In addition to providing exclusives, One Chicago Day will showcase footage and insight into the slate of episodes that air the same night. Generally, this means the event takes place on a Wednesday. For some reason, though, there has been no word on the event in 2023.
Is One Chicago Day happening in 2023?
There are a couple different reasons why this may be. One is scheduling. One Chicago Day usually takes place after the shows come back from a hiatus, as a means of drawing fans back in. All three shows recently came back from a hiatus, and given that there aren’t too many episodes left in the season, there won’t be that many hiatuses left to capitalize on.
There’s also the renewal issue. Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD are currently in the last year of their respective contracts, and they have not yet been renewed for additional seasons. It’s been said that NBC and Dick Wolf Productions, the company behind the franchise, are currently in talks to secure another multi-season renewal.
Since it has not been solidified, however, the lack of a renewal agreement may be contributing to the lack of a push for One Chicago Day.

Another factor that has some fans reluctant is the absence of Taylor Kinney. The actor recently left Chicago Fire due to a personal matter, and fans have pointed out that the uncertainty over Kinney and his status on the show, as well as the sudden return of Jesse Spencer, may be contributing to the reluctance to hold a fan event in 2023.
There’s another five weeks of shows for One Chicago, so it’s possible that a One Chicago Day could still be announced and carried out. We will provide updates here once they’re made available.
