After getting one new Chicago Fire episode at the start of April, we have some bad news. There won’t be anything else new this month.

Deep down, we all had a feeling this would happen, right? The NBC schedule has been on and off this time of year for a while now. It all comes down to the number of episodes left to air and the number of weeks until the middle of May, which is when the finales tend to air.

So, it shouldn’t be too surprising to find out that Chicago Fire is heading on another break. This is a long-ish one again. The terrible news for fans is that there won’t be a new episode of the series (or the other two One Chicago shows) at all in April 2023.

When will Chicago Fire return with new episodes?

That’s right; we’re going the rest of the month without new episodes. If you didn’t get to watch the April 5 episode, you still have that to catch up on. Take your time with the catch-up!

When is the show back? NBC has confirmed that Chicago Fire will return with new episodes on Wednesday, May 3.

This should mean there’s a full run of new episodes until the season finale. We’re expecting 22 episodes to the season, so with Episode 19 airing on Wednesday, May 3, we’re looking at the finale airing on Wednesday, May 24. It’s worth noting that unlike ABC and CBS, NBC has not confirmed any finale dates just yet.

We do have the NBC summer schedule premieres, but none of them help us figure out the finales in May. The Wednesday premiere that’s set is for later in June.

The end of May is a good move for NBC. ABC is wrapping up the majority of its shows at the start of May, so holding off for a few weeks and then bringing a string of four episodes while all Wednesday ABC shows are off will certainly help with the live ratings.
