All three One Chicago shows renewed for 2023-24 season
What a relief! One Chicago is a franchise that’s continued to do big numbers for NBC, but the fact that all three shows in the franchise were nearing an end, and none had been renewed for another season, led some fans to question what was going on.
Was One Chicago going to end after the current run of episodes? Were they going to be renewed in a multi-year deal like they’d done years prior? We now have the answer, and it turns out it was somewhere in between these two options.
Is Chicago Fire season 12 renewed?
Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD have all been renewed for an additional season by NBC. This means Med is guaranteed nine seasons, while Fire and PD are guaranteed twelve and eleven, respectively. The renewals, while late, make sense, as all three shows have been working on arcs and storylines that would stretch well beyond the current run of episodes.
It’s great news for fans who were growing increasingly concerned with the fact that we had an official air date for the season finales of each show, but not a confirmation as to whether they would be back. A stressful place to be, no doubt, when a season finale could turn into a series finale depending on network contracts.

That being said, there is an element of intrigue with regards to the single-season renewal in place of the multi-season renewal that had been commonplace with Dick Wolf-produced shows. Earlier reports claimed that NBC and Dick Wolf Productions were discussing another multi-season deal, so the fact that it didn’t come to fruition is interesting.
It’s possible that the shows could be looking at single-season renewals from now on, or that it was simply easier to reach a single-season agreement and that the multi-season deal will be reinstated during the next negotiation window.
Either way, we’re thankful to have another season of One Chicago locked down!
