Chicago Fire: Is Taylor Kinney friends with ex-fiance Lady Gaga?

Taylor Kinney may be famous as the star of Chicago Fire, but there was a time where he was engaged to someone even more famous: Lady Gaga. The couple met when Kinney starred in one of Gaga’s music videos, and they were together for a total of six years.

While Kinney has kept his private life under wraps for the most part, his engagement to Gaga continues to be a point of fascination and speculation for fans. Do they stay in touch? Are they friendly with one another in 2023? Here’s what you need to know.

Are Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga back together?

Kinney appeared in Gaga’s 2011 music video for “You & I” and they made their relationship official that same year. They announced their engagement in February 2015, and called it off in July 2016. Little was said about the split, with the exception of a written statement on Gaga’s Instagram. Check out the original post below.

While Kinney has never spoken about his relationship with Gaga, the latter has been open about what their issues were, and why they ultimately split. In her documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, Gaga said that she and Kinney would often fight and that her dedication to shooting the film A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper put a strain on the time they spent together.

Gaga referenced Kinney a second time in 2020, when she spoke at a rally for President Joe Biden. The rally took place in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which is where Kinney was born, and the singer speaks more fondly of her time with the Chicago Fire star.

"“I was engaged to a man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania”, she said. “I know, I know, it didn’t work out. I loved him so much but it just did not work out. But I still love me Pennsylvania guy. I love Joe, so Joe’s my new Pennsylvania guy.”"

So what’s the deal now? Are Kinney and Gaga still friendly? It doesn’t appear so. They have not been seen together since their split, and there has been no mention of a continued friendship from either party.

Kinney is currently dating model Ashley Cruger, and Gaga subsequently got engaged to talent agent Christian Caro. As with her previous engagement, however, the union between Gaga and Caro was called off in 2019. More recently, Gaga has been romantically linked to businessman Michael Polansky.
