Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) is at a crossroads on Chicago PD. True, the character has been able to rekindle his relationship with Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and daughter Makayla (Ramona Edith Williams), but his life is also on the line due to his current undercover mission.

As the last few PD episodes have shown, Ruzek is putting himself at risk to stop a serious attack by the Beck family, and we’ve already gotten hints that the Becks might be onto him. Ruzek will be at the forefront of the last few season 10 episodes, and Flueger discussed what to expect during a recent interview with NBC.

Is Adam Ruzek going to die on Chicago PD?

The actor told the outlet that Ruzek has always been a fan of undercover work, given his particular set of skills, but that the events unfolding in his personal life have made him less reluctant to go all out.

"“It’s this odd thing”, Flueger noted. “Being undercover, that kind of stuff was something that he always loved, but this one has become so complicated… That duality is not fun, especially when he wants to go home, when he’s got a daughter, and he’s got this this woman that he’s rekindled his romance with.”"

Ruzek, who took a backseat during season 10’s first half, has been crucial in getting Burgess to embrace the trauma she’s experienced and seek out therapy. It’s worked wonders so far, both in terms of Burgess’ mental health and their relationship as a whole.

The fear of losing what’s important is an understandable one, and one that provides a fresh arc for Ruzek. The character spent the last season becoming increasingly disillusioned with police work and the sacrifices that need to be made. With a newfound sense of purpose, however, we’re getting to see him in a new light.

All signs point to the character being pushed to his limit, which not only means Flueger will get a chance to flex his acting chops, but fans will get a chance to spend time with a character who’s on the brink of a big life change.

“I think he’s exhausted, and I think it’s starting to wear on him that what he’s undercover for, it’s not for one individual”, Flueger added. “It’s for this possible mass attack. So I think it is weighing on him as things go forward.”
