Taylor Kinney son: Does the Chicago Fire star have kids?

Taylor Kinney has always been an important part of the Chicago Fire brand. Now that he’s stepped away from the brand, however, his personal life has become a greater source of focus for fans.

There’s been speculation about why he decided to take a leave of absence, and whether he has plans to return to the show before it wraps up its 11th season. There’s also been speculation about his personal life, and whether he’s married, or has any children.

Let’s break down the details we know about Kinney’s life.

Is Severide coming back to Chicago Fire?

For one, Kinney has never been married. He was engaged to pop superstar Lady Gaga in 2015, but the couple called off their engagement a year later. The actor has not spoken on the details of the split, and has subsequently kept the specifics of his dating life under wraps ever since.

Kinney has been more open about his current relationship, though. He’s dating model Ashley Cruger, who made a cameo in the season 11 premiere of Chicago Fire and who regularly posts photos of Kinney on her Instagram. Kinney’s own social media has been untouched since late 2022, so his presence on Cruger’s IG has been the biggest source of updates for fans.

Kinney is not currently married. He’s been dating Cruger for over a year, and he does not have any kids from previous relationships. He has opened up about his desire to start a family one day, as evidenced by a 2015 interview with the Huffington Post.

When asked whether he sees kids in his future, the actor said: “I have a bunch of brothers. I grew up with a big family. I want that, sure. I want a brood, you know. I’d like to have a little soccer team and a minivan and all that stuff.”

The desire to have kids has, interestingly enough, been mirrored in Severide storylines over the course of Chicago Fire. Severide considered having kids with Shay (Lauren German) before her death, and there are rumblings that Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) may eventually become pregnant with Severide’s kid. We will see how these rumblings manifest as season 11 turns the corner towards its finale.
