We may still be a week out from Chicago Fire‘s return to NBC, but the network has seen fit to reveal some crucial plot details about the upcoming episode. The episode, which is scheduled to air on May 3, will resolve some of the crucial plot details that were left up in the air in the previous installment.

This is especially the case when it comes to Gallo (Alberto Rosende), and the deadly situation with his aunt. As those who watched the episode “Danger Is All Around” know, Gallo’s aunt Lacey was involved in a car accident and was found bleeding out. She was immediately rushed into car, but the specifics of her condition were left unclear as the credits rolled.

Is Gallo still in Chicago Fire season 11?

It was quite a cliffhanger to leave fans on, especially since the promo that aired after the episode revealed that there would be no new episodes for a month. We’ve had several weeks to theorize over whether Gallo’s aunt makes it through the accident, and now we have confirmation from the show’s official plot synopsis.

The synopsis for episode 19, titled “Take a Shot at the King”, reads as follows:

"“Boden, Ritter, Herrmann and Kidd work together to take down a local politician responsible for a chemical fire; after his aunt’s accident, Gallo worries about their future; Brett steps in to perform Dylan’s magic show when he’s out of town.”"

While the wording doesn’t explicitly confirm Gallo’s aunt’s fate, the fact that Gallo is worrying about “their” future collectively suggests that she survives. The subplot involving Gallo and his aunt has brought out different sides of his character, and it’ll be interesting to see how the accident will alter the sense of responsibility and protectiveness he feels towards her.

As a character who’s been repeatedly prepped to step into an elder statesmen role at the 51, the subplot involving Gallo’s aunt could go a long way in furthering his maturation.
