Jason Beghe is the grounding presence of Chicago PD. As Voight, the veteran who’s seen it all and done it all, he helps to shepherd the younger characters and keep them from making the mistakes that he has over the years (well, for the most part).

Voight has experienced plenty of tragedy over the years, with the death of his son Justin (Michael Segura) being near the top. Given that we know so much about Voight’s personal life, however, we figured we’d take a step back and look at Beghe’s. Does the actor have kids?

Is Jason Beghe married?

Yes, he does. Beghe has two sons named Bix and Bo Bear, and he had both of them with his ex-wife Angie Janu. Beghe and Janu married in 2000 and divorced in 2020, during which time they agreed to joint custody of their two sons.

According to People Magazine, the former couple agreed to “share in all major decisions concerning the minor children’s health, education and welfare including, but without limitation, schooling, religion, medical care [and] enrichment activities.”

They were also prohibited from making “derogatory nor disparaging remarks about the other or the other party’s family members” in the presence of Bix and Bo Bear.

Beghe prefers to keep the details of his personal life under wraps, but he has occasionally made reference to his sons during interviews. When asked about his famously raspy voice in 2017, he told Daily Beast that it makes giving orders around the house fairly easy.

“It’s good for Voight—not so good when I have to play the sweet dad,” he hoked. “But it’s good with my kids. They’re good kids, but when I say, Hey, it’s time to clean up, they do it.”

In speaking with TVMeg.com in 2021, Beghe talked about the significance of playing someone with a doomed son on TV, and how impactful it can be when drawing upon the real-life bonds between fathers and sons. “Remember, he attacked Casey in the beginning, because he’s trying to protect his son”, the actor noted. “I don’t know if you have children, but he might go pretty far.”

Thankfully, the dynamic between Beghe and his sons is much healthier than of his onscreen counterpart and his (late) son!
