Is a new episode of Chicago Fire on NBC tonight? (April 26)
We are ready to see what Firehouse 51 will do in the new episode of Chicago Fire. Is NBC ready for us to see the action happen?
We start off with some bad news. As much as we’re ready to see what’s next for Firehouse 51, NBC is not. Chicago Fire will not air a new episode tonight, Wednesday, April 26.
To make it even harder, we won’t even get a rerun of the series tonight. NBC is opting for the Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love special starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT. It’s a two-hour special, so taking up the timeslots that we usually get the Chicago Med and Chicago Fire reruns. There is a rerun of Chicago PD at the end of the night.

When do new episodes of Chicago Fire return on NBC?
This is the last week of the hiatus, which is all due to scheduling of the final episodes. The new episode will air on Wednesday, May 3.
This is the last of the breaks, too. NBC will bring the final four episodes of Fire throughout the month of May with the finale airing on Wednesday, May 24. Then the series is into its summer break, but we know that season 12 is happening. While the episode count is a little shorter, we are still expecting it in the fall.
What about the upcoming new episode, though? What can we expect for Firehouse 51? We’ll get to see Boden working with Ritter, Herrmann, and Kidd. A local politician is responsible for a chemical fire, and the four firefighters need to work together to take him down. It’s a shame Casey isn’t still around and in his political position to help.
We’ll get to see a little more of Gallo’s personal life, too. After his aunt’s accident, he’s worried about their future. He’s sure to start off not wanting to lean on anyone, but realizing that Firehouse 51 looks out for its own.
