If there is one thing Chicago Fire fans have come to expect from the show’s season finales, it’s that you never quite know what unexpected curveballs might be thrown in the direction of the show’s characters.
In past season finales, we’ve seen everything from weddings seasons in the makings to dangerous calls that left the lives of Firehouse 51 members up in the air — and even claimed the lives of a few beloved characters. As such, when finale season rolls around, fans are naturally eager to see what the writers come up with and it seems we’ll once again have a reason to be on the edge of our seats heading into finale night.
With the current season coming to a close, NBC has finally revealed the synopsis for the Chicago Fire season 11 finale — interestingly titled “Red Waterfall” — and it seems Brett will be taking center stage via one of the finale’s key storylines.
What to expect from the Chicago Fire season 11 finale
While details are scarce, the season 11 finale synopsis teases that Brett will be waiting for “life-changing news” in the final episode of the season. It’s a tease that could literally mean a number of things, which is sure to spark speculation among fans.
Could the news be connected to her paramedicine? Might it be about a potential promotion or career opportunity? What if the news is something on the personal front like whether Casey might be coming back to 51 or perhaps even a pregnancy scare? There’s no telling what the storyline might entail, but it seems something big could be coming Brett’s way in the final episode of season 11.

Elsewhere in the episode, it appears we’ll get to revisit the storyline first introduced with Casey’s return as the finale teases that Kidd will catch a lead on the Homeland Security case. Might that mean Casey will make a trip back to the Windy City? Well, that also remains to be seen but there’s no ruling it out.
Finally, it seems Herrmann is going to receive a grave warning while encountering a psychic on a call which is definitely a bit haunting. Could the moment be foreshadowing a season-ending death? We definitely hope not, but this is Chicago Fire after all so anything is possible.
We’ll know for certain what all of these plotlines mean when the season 11 finale airs Wednesday, May 24 at 9/8c on NBC!
