If there is one thing Chicago Med fans have gotten used to, it’s beloved characters unexpectedly leaving town with little to no notice at all.

This season alone there has been a wave of cast shakeups on NBC’s One Chicago medical drama with a number of cast members leaving the show. Season 8 has seen eight character exits including Guy Lockard (Dylan Scott), Sarah Rafferty (Pamela Blake), Riley Voelkel (Milena Jovanovic), Asjha Cooper (Dr. Vanessa Taylor), Brian Tee (Dr. Ethan Choi), Michael Rady (Matt Cooper), Johanna Bradley (Avery Quinn), and Angela Wong Carbone (Jessa Rinaldi).

Needless to say, season 8 has brought the most changes to the cast that we’ve ever seen and it’s looking like there could be one more cast shakeup coming at the very end of the season. At least, that’s what the synopsis for the season 8 finale leads us to believe.

Is Maggie leaving Chicago Med?

In the newly released synopsis for the Chicago Med season 8 finale, “Does One Door Close and Another One Open?”, it is teased that Maggie will be questioning her future at Med. While the line seems innocent enough, it does beg the question: Is Maggie about to leave Med?

Well, that’s an answer we’re likely going to have to wait for until the finale airs on May 24; however, the plotline does leave room for concern.

We’ve already been informed that the show’s series regulars will appear in fewer episodes next season due to budget cuts, so it’s also possible there could be more cast exits coming our way as the season comes to a close. While the finale’s synopsis could be hinting that Maggie’s time at Med is coming to an end, it could also be a misdirect as One Chicago finales do like to throw curveballs our way.

The one thing that should help to ease fans’ fear of the finale being Maggie’s last episode is that actress Marlyne Barrett has not made any comments about leaving the show. In fact, her Instagram post celebrating the wrap of filming did not offer any indications that the episode was her last.
