Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) was a major player in Chicago Fire season 10. She had her romance subplot with Casey (Jesse Spencer), and the work subplot where she pushed for more assistance and ambulances.

Season 11 has been a different story. The character has taken more of a backseat role compared to some of her co-workers, but it looks like this is going to change in the upcoming finale. NBC has released the official synopsis for the episode, titled “Red Waterfall”, and it hints at some major developments for the character.

Is Kara Killmer leaving Chicago Fire season 11?

The synopsis reads:

"“Brett waits for life-changing news; Herrmann encounters a psychic with a grave warning on a call; Kidd finds a new lead on the Homeland Security case.”"

Life-changing. That’s definitely eyebrow raising. The character has hit a bit of a lull in her life, both on the personal and professional front, so the notion that she will encounter something that will affect her outlook so dramatically is an exciting notion.

The obvious assumption is that the news has to do with Casey. The character returned to Chicago a few episodes back, and while things were initially contentious between him and Brett, it was clear they still have strong romantic feelings for one another.

The fact that Jesse Spencer has been spotted on the set of the Chicago Fire season 11 only helps to support the idea that Brett’s news will tie back to Casey. It’s very possible that the character will decide to leave the 51 and move to Oregon with Casey, or will at least consider the possibility of trying to maintain a relationship again.

There have been lots of One Chicago fans on Reddit and social media who are beginning to feel like the clock is ticking for Brett’s character, and that because she is not at the forefront of the drama anymore, it may be best to give her the happy ending she deserves. While we don’t want her to leave the show anytime soon, it would make sense to bring her and Casey back together.

The season 11 finale is going to be a doozy.
