Chicago Fire: Will Casey and Brett get married in season 12?
Romance is in the air on Chicago Fire. So is a reunion. Brett (Kara Killmer) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) broke up at the beginning of season 11, and have remained separated during the latter’s time in Oregon, but things seemed to get stirred up when he visited Chicago.
While neither character voiced a desire to get back together, it was clear that Brett and Casey still have some residual feelings for one another. These interactions, coupled with the synopsis for the season 11 finale, suggest that something big is going to happen between them.
Are Brett and Casey back together on Chicago Fire?
The synopsis for the finale, titled “Red Windfall”, reads as follows:
"“Brett waits for life-changing news; Herrmann encounters a psychic with a grave warning on a call; Kidd finds a new lead on the Homeland Security case.”"
Life-changing news can only mean so many things. The show wouldn’t dare kill the character off, and besides, death really stretches the limits of what can be deemed “life-changing”. It’s possible the character could be promoted to another job or learn of some notable family news, but based on the reports of (and on-set photos depicting) Casey’s return, we’re inclined to believe that it has to do with him.
Brett has been struggling to find her footing in season 11. The Casey break up really took a toll on her, especially compared to season 10, when she was thriving on both a personal and professional basis. We could easily see a world in which Brett decides to move to Oregon to be with Casey, and maybe even consider getting back with him.

Losing Brett would be a big blow to the show, however, so there could also be an outcome where Brett decides to try for a long-distance relationship with Casey once again. This one is less likely, given the growth she’s exhibited throughout the season.
Regardless of what transpires between Brett and Casey in the season finale, there’s an overwhelming sense that they will end up together. Jesse Spencer continues to be involved in the show in a limited but important capacity, and it would be a stretch to envision significant others for the characters that would be more beloved. Marriage feels as though it will be the endgame, even if we have to wait a little bit longer.
