We’re getting closer to the Chicago PD season 10 finale! It’s been an emotionally draining season for all of the characters involved, and it doesn’t look as though the final batch of episodes is going to be any different.

LaRoyce Hawkins, who plays Atwater, recently discussed the emotional weight the characters have been facing throughout the season, and what fans should be looking out for as they prepare for the season finale.

What happened to Ruzek on Chicago PD?

“I think we want to keep our eyes on Ruzek, for a fact,” the actor told NBC. “He makes it look easy sometimes, and I think he enjoys his job. But toward the finale it is going to start weighing on him.” This is a sentiment that Ruzek’s actor, Patrick John Flueger, echoed earlier in the year, especially with the added sense of responsibility the character feels towards Burgess (Marina Squerciati).

There’s a newfound sense of responsibility for Ruzek, especially since he’s been able to mend his relationship with Burgess and has continued to serve as a father figure for their adopted daughter Makayla (Ramona Edith Williams). Ruzek has historically had an ice cold approach to undercover work that’s served him well, but now that he’s got something to lose, the stakes are going to be that much higher.

As for what else fans can expect to see in the season 10 finale, Hawkins pointed to the character of Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) and the fact that he still has to gain some experience in the field before he’s on the level of his IU peers.

"“Torres, we’re going to see him pop in and out, and he’s still struggling to get 100% acclimated to the unit,” Hawkins added. “We’re watching Torres go through [strife], too. His mom is dealing with health things, he’s still got to pay his dues. When we see him, it’ll definitely be a good time.”"

We can’t wait to see how these individuals stories play out, and how they set up the next season!
