Chicago PD is ramping up for its season 10 finale. The police procedural has raised the stakes in terms of dramatic events, from the departure of Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and the personal troubles of Burgess (Marina Squerciati) to the dangerous undercover mission that’s been taken on by Ruzek (John Patrick Flueger).

The mission, which is currently underway, is going to come to a head in the season finale, and actor LaRoyce Hawkins weighed in on what fans can expect during a recent interview with TV Line.

What happens in the Chicago PD season 10 finale?

Hawkins, who plays Kevin Atwater and served as the main focus of the recent episode “The Bleed Valve”, told the outlet that things are going to get “crazy” in the final episode of the season.

“We watch it grow all the way up until the finale,” Hawkins explained. “The way the team must spread out and figure everything out and get it done is crazy. Trust me, it’s crazy.” The actor went on to discuss the importance of the Ruzek character in the finale, and how Ruzek’s relationship with Atwater is going to inform what happens to both of them.

"“We’ve all been doing our best to try to just help him focus and maintain,” Hawkins added. “We will learn what Richard Beck is up to. We will find Atwater being a key component to making sure that we wrap that up safely. That’s really what I can’t wait for the people to see.”"

The revelation that Atwater plays a big part in the finale means that the character has really gotten a boost on the back end of the season. He’s played more of a supporting role throughout season 10, especially compared to his peers, so it’s nice to see him get more attention from the writing team.
