Chief Wallace Boden is a notable presence on Chicago Fire. He can be wildly intimidating when he wants to be, and tenderly supportive at other times. It’s this versatility that makes him such an effective commander in a firehouse that’s subject to lots of drama.

Part of Boden’s notability is the stellar performance by Eamonn Walker, and part of it is the physical stature that Walker brings to the character. He’s notably taller than most of the other cast members, so we thought we’d break down just how much taller he is.

Walker is 6’1″, which makes him the single tallest member of the Chicago Fire cast. The closest competition is Joe Minoso, who stands at 6’0″, and Taylor Kinney, who is 5’11”. The rest of the cast gets shorter in height following these three: both Jesse Spencer and Miranda Rae Mayo are 5’10”. Conversely, Kara Killmer is one of the short cast members, standing at 5’5″.

Despite Walker’s impressive stature, he’s rarely called upon to do stunts. It makes sense from a narrative standpoint, as a man of Boden’s stature wouldn’t be tasked with burning buildings and other emergencies, but Walker has praised cast members like Taylor Kinney, who go out of their way to do their own stunts.

“To work with this guy, he’s a little bit of a superhero because he wants to do all his own stunts,” Walker told Access Hollywood. “You have to fight him not to … It’s like, ‘Taylor, wear the wire, be safe,’ and he’s like. ‘I got this!’ … He really goes for it. It’s exciting to be a part of that.”
