David S. Lee is a familiar face to anyone who’s watched movies or TV in the last decade. He’s one of those actors who recognize even if you don’t know his name, and Chicago Fire is the latest title to showcase his talents.

Lee plays Don Ramsey, the city treasurer who got pulled into a compromising situation when he was caught in compromising situation in a building fire. Ritter (Daniel Kyri) eventually determined that the treasurer was having an affair, and was going to keep it quiet, but Ramsey confronted the firefighter and promised to ruin his career if any information got out.

Who plays Don Ramsey on Chicago Fire?

It was a relatively brief exchange, and Ramsey was absent from the episodes that followed, but it felt like Chicago Fire was priming the audience for his return. Sure enough, when Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) was hospitalized following rescue mission, and Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) was trying to push for better policies for his firefighters, Ramsey came back.

Ramsey, who initially feigned concern over Carver’s condition, proved that little had changed since we last saw him. He was still as cunning and corrupt as when he crossed paths with Ritter, and he has clearly identified Chief Boden as an enemy within the fire department.

There isn’t mention of Boden or Ramsey in the synopsis for the season 11 finale, but one gets the sense that these two will have a few more confrontations before Chicago Fire goes off the air. The chief doesn’t even know about the threat that was leveled at Ritter yet, so if that comes to light then he will most certainly try to get Ramsey fired from his high-level position.

For those wanting to see more of Lee, there’s a staggering number of entry points. The actor had a small but memorable part as a villain in Black Panther (2018), and he’s also played nefarious parts in box office hits like Blood Diamond (2006) and Get Smart (2008). On television, Lee is probably best known for his recurring role in NCIS.
